  1. Data Controller eCurrency Foundation is the operator of ecurrency.org and all associated subdomains (the “Website”). We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process, and use your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (“nDSG”).   1. What We Collect We collect only what is necessary to operate this Website.

2.1 Server Logs When you visit the Website, the hosting provider may automatically record the following in server log files:

  • IP address (anonymized where technically possible)

  • Pages visited and navigation path
  • Date, time, and duration of visit
  • Referral source

This data is not linked to specific individuals or combined with data from other sources. The legal basis is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and the equivalent provisions of the nDSG to ensure system security, stability, and website optimization. 2.3 Analytics (Google Analytics 4) We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor behavior in aggregate. This service may set cookies and transmit data to Google servers. IP addresses are anonymized before storage. We may receive the following through this service:

2.4 Contact Form and Email Correspondence If you contact us via the Website or by email, we require: your name, email address, and message. We use this data solely to respond to your enquiry and delete it once your enquiry is resolved. The legal basis is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and, where applicable, your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

If you voluntarily include a wallet address in a message, it will be treated as general correspondence and deleted after your enquiry is resolved.

  1. What We Do Not Collect This Website does not process payments, does not require account registration, and does not collect:
  • Wallet addresses or private keys
  • On-chain transaction data
  • Financial account or credit card information
  • Government-issued identification data
  • eCurrency is a protocol. Transactions occur on the network, not through this Website.
  1. How We Use Your Information Information collected through this Website is used only for the following purposes:
  • To respond to contact form submissions and email enquiries
  • To understand how visitors use the site and improve content and navigation
  • To monitor site performance and security
  • We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

This Website links to external resources including GitHub, block explorers, exchange platforms, and community channels. Once you leave ecurrency.org, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party service you use.

  1. Data Security This Website is served over HTTPS. We implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers, HSTS, and other standard web security measures. Our security measures are reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or from this Website. In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within 72 hours as required under Art. 33 GDPR, and you directly if the risk is high under Art. 34 GDPR.

  1. Your Rights Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable law, including the GDPR and nDSG, you have the following rights:

7.1 Right to Access You have the right to obtain confirmation of whether your personal data is being processed and, if so, to receive a copy along with information about purposes, categories, recipients, and retention periods (Art. 15 GDPR).

7.2 Right to Rectification You have the right to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected without undue delay (Art. 16 GDPR).

7.3 Right to Erasure You have the right to request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary, you withdraw consent, or the data has been unlawfully processed (Art. 17 GDPR).

7.4 Right to Restriction of Processing You have the right to obtain restriction of processing in certain circumstances, such as where the accuracy of data is contested or the processing is unlawful but you oppose erasure (Art. 18 GDPR).

7.5 Right to Data Portability Where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller (Art. 20 GDPR).

7.6 Right to Object You have the right to object at any time to processing based on legitimate interest, including profiling. We will cease processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests (Art. 21 GDPR).

7.7 Right to Withdraw Consent Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

7.8 Right to Lodge a Complaint You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your personal data violates applicable law (Art. 77 GDPR). We encourage you to contact us first so we can address your concern directly.

When a retention period expires or the purpose of storage no longer applies, personal data is erased in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
